Poveglia island bears an intense yet tragic history of housing a quarantine station, a mental asylum, and a home for abandoned people of age.  In the context of the current Pandemic, the project raises the questions of memory, the commemoration of lives lost through the history of epidemics and pandemics.Through the function of a Museum, this project explores the memory embedded in the site (Palimpsest), the manifestation of it as a display that one can traverse through. A physical expression of heaviness, a constriction that holds within artifacts of traumatic histories.
