Restoring and enhancing the river and its edges

II River and the Real World II A generation of Jaipurites who grew up bearing with the stench from Amanishah nallah didn’t know that a river called Dravyavati once existed there. Amanishah nallah was once a perennial river, a stream flowing outside the city fabric running through a distance of 47 km merging with river Dhundh with a dozen dams around Jaipur. The river started declining slowly even after a great effort from the government post channelizing the river at a master plan level. The objective of the project is clear i.e to re-define the river edge to back to its original form and to and ecologically restores the barren land on the edges of the embankment to its full potential in consideration of the settlement and human participation. The river being the highlight of this project, the simple act of getting close to the water and experiencing its natural form, rhythms, and beauty can have a profound influence on the community’s perception and sense of cont of its surrounding environment.
