Within the Contours

The project aims to create a reading space detached from the outside world. The library is submerged within the contours of the community with courtyards as anchors to the outside world. The functional spaces have been organised around these courtyards. Each intimate space has a certain light quality achieved by the courtyards as well as the skylights. These skylights can be seen as elements of the terrace that invite public activities and serve as an extension of the aangan adjacent to it. The positioning on site along with the design is such that it serves as a symbolic entrance to the loving community.
