Mining sites in India are treated as places of degradation and loss of ecological conditions. As the act of mining cannot be reversed, this space is left as abandoned sites. Because it is abandoned, the ecological forces present on the site initiate its recovery. As an approach how can we identify and learn from those ecological mechanisms to accelerate or facilitate ecological recovery on such sites??
The project rejuvenates the basalt quarry site at Champaner; following a method of architectural regeneration that can be replicated at other basalt quarry sites in the country.
