Economic, social, and technology growth due to urbanization offers benefits to society in terms of better living as well as employment opportunities. However, overcrowding is a major downside of urbanization and it hampers public life and the environment with continuously decreasing open green public spaces in the city. This lack of open public green spaces impacts mostly the lower-income group and the poor people as rich people can enjoy the pleasures of big homes, backyards, private clubs but poor people have only their local street, parks or if they’re lucky, a playground nearby to hang out in. This also creates gaps between the communities. This project aims to utilize the social, economical, and ecological benefits of Public green spaces in transforming the city. The report is a compilation of various design proposals to reclaim the public green spaces with the help of the Local Area Planning tool in the Transit Oriented Zone of Ambawadi, Ahmedabad. The first segment is the detailed study of the proposed LAP site in the Ambawadi area of Ahmedabad city. Identifying site potential and challenges and finding gaps through stakeholder assessment. And developing a LAP framework plan for Ambawadi. The second segment is the compilation of public space and built-form design ideas in a part of the Ambawadi LAP. Here the transformation is carried through providing inclusivity and equity in public places.
