REHABILITATION CENTRE I SMILJAN RADIC

The studio started with analyzing works of Smiljan Radic, after carefully dissecting his various attitudes in the forms of diagrams and models we started with a Design problem to apply some of these ideas.  The site was located in midst of an abandoned marble mine in Ambaji, Gujarat and the program was to create a rehabilitation centre. Thus, the history of the site became very important. Inspired by Radic, the built form addressed the contrast of heaviness/lightness, opaque/transparent, curves/linearity etc. The site is treated sensitively both in the metaphorical and literal sense.
