SAMMILAN

The project is an affordable mass housing, designed in the hot and dry region of Jodhpur city, Rajasthan, India. The vision around which the whole design revolves is the idea of 'Sammilan', meaning an amalgamation of traditional and modern living styles. Due to lack of such housings in the region , an effort has been made to expand vertically while providing each housing with a private courtyard to maintain their connection with the vernacular lifestyle. Along with the private courtyards a hierarchy of courtyards have been created at the site level.
