" Theatre of Streets "

Since 2010, the Gujarat government has led redevelopment plans to replace existing informal settlements on site with western-style apartments  in a public-private partnership model. This model provides essential utilities and greater security of tenure for some, however the socio-cultural and economic outcomes are often worse than in the informal settlements and are generally unsuccessful. This project tries to question idea of affordable housing  & tries to achieve higher social capital, better climatic responses through its organisation and system based approach. A well defined system of repeating variety of cluster is deigned to achieve theatre of open & semi open spaces.
