Site is located in Chandigarh, adjacent to Tower of shadows (By Le Corbusier) and is connected through a bridge to it. Since the site has a very strong contextual value, the special theme for the design is Shadow of Tower of shadow which is further carried out by breaking the monotony of the site by juxtaposing it with a contrasting character. Most of the designs by Le Corbusier have a very tenacious sense of colors that also helps to break the monolithic nature of concrete. Assembly based construction with significant play of colors is adopted in the design to give another shape and purpose to the building. The project embraces the use of technology in interpretating the methodology of le Corbusier which has given a distinct characteristic to the space by accommodating the program- A Display and library for elements of vernacular architecture that further takes up a shape of an Experiential space. Acknowledging the area of the space there will be a single passage that will be connecting all the spaces that are supposed for public access. The site will the accessed through the bridge that is used to connect the tower of shadows to the site. The space frame will be divided into two major contrasting spaces where one space will allow complete visual transparency whereas the other space will be more compartmentalized. The spaces are segregated as per the usage where exhibition and library are more open to public whereas the other spaces that will include administrative area, seminar rooms, souvenir shop for which the access will be restricted. Please click on the link below for previous studio works.
