Prayer can mean a lot of different things to different people. However, all places of prayer require a certain environment which supports and allows for such an activity. This project serves to respond to this environment and the ambiguity of prayer at two levels - collective and individual, to make spaces which allow for an activity which aids its users in reflection, observation and engagement. Located at the Kocharab Ashram in Paldi, Ahmedabad, the project responds to the heritage significance of these buildings and aims to create a space of spirituality with the help of architectural elements and their articulation to create relationships of shadows and planes.
