THE FLOATING COCOON

The barge enters and exits the dock, and the dock floats and submerges- the given spaces transform. Similarly, the roof is such that it transforms into different shapes, making different volumes according to the need. The idea was to create a light floating roof that gives a parametric experience. To construct the roof, a pneumatic structure was chosen. Along with being light and fast to construct, it gives the opportunity of making different volumes and also adds to the floating experience of being in the dry dock. The bouncy, flexible space reflects in the program over here making it a lively, energetic place with various activities happening all around. The dry dock works as a gymnastic and acrobatics training center, dance workshop space, etc. throughout the day. Some days it is a circus with a trapeze, acrobatics, and seating around. On the weekends, it is converted into a techno nightclub. It is a multifunctional space with temporary functions which can change according to need.
