Systems design for modular vacation houses. In India today, there is a tendency in a large segment of the society, be the emerging middle-income group and their newly acquired lifestyles, the well-to-do urban professionals with their disposable incomes or the traditionally well-off high net worth individuals, to seek solace out of the busy city environments over the weekends or short vacations. This has seen the emergence of Farm plots and Farmhouses or Vacation homes mushrooming around the country. Generally, these places are located 50 to 200 kms away from the cities and it's a challenge to get these Farmhouses designed, built and furnished. One sees here an opportunity to design and construct prefabricated houses across the country. These could be the "Lego" like houses which could be prefabricated using modern technology and are essentially a kit of parts. We can describe a "system" as a group of interacting, interconnected collections of ingredients that form a unified whole and having a certain level of complexity. Therefore, our approach to this studio would be to design structures which could be either partially or completely prefabricated and assembled in the required way on site in minimum time.
