Any urbanization will have an impact on the environment. It has altered cities' blue infrastructure. Flooding happens frequently as a result of the impermeable surfaces found in urban regions. The velocity of runoff from such surfaces is high, adding to the burden on stormwater drainage systems. This raises peak flow and overland flow volume while lowering natural groundwater flow(due to the lack of percolation) and evapotranspiration. Sponge landscape -The rainwater absorbing landscape in Prajapat Nagar (Indore) is a demonstration project of absorbing the rainwater at the surface/ source. Sponge landscape is one of the Sponge City concepts.
