Designing a children’s library requires a sensitive approach. It is imperative for the reading space to be secluded and tucked away from the surrounding activities. It is also equally important for the children’s library to be located at a prominent site so that the familiarity of such location encourages the children to stop by and enter. Land is a precious resource and it is crucial to scale the footprint of the built in line with the surrounding buildings so that it does not look imposing. The intent is to design a children’s library at a prominent site amidst the hustle of the chowk yet using various strategies to achieve the desired spatial attributes while maintaining an apt scale.
