Provisions for Urban Forests in India - Ahmedabad City.

The paper aims at exploring what policy provisions at the Center, State or City level could help increase the tree canopy cover in Ahmedabad. After critically examining the existing hierarchy and relationship between the center, states, and the city, of cities across India and the world, I aim to identify potentials to empower the urban authorities in the governance framework to take decisions on urban forests and policies they can use within the framework of development plan to do so. Following which potential category of spaces have been shortlisted in Ahmedabad where tree plantation can be incorporated.
