A Search for the Traditional Contemporary

The design of the shelf was inspired by the traditional craft of Sadeli, which is one of the core products of Garvi Gurjari, a craft retail store. The delicacy and intricacy of Sadeli demanded a certain response from the surfaces and surroundings that it inhabits. Understanding and translating the spirit the product in a contemporary context, while keeping material and manufacturing constraints of wood in mind culminated in this shelving system.
