The project builds on the existing opportunities like open spaces, thriving commerce and positive characteristics like community engagement of the existing site. Through various visits to different formal and informal housings and supported by research the importance of open spaces is very evident. The proposed design tries to retain the association of the residents to these open spaces like courtyards, nodes, and even streets where they not only carry their day to day activities and social gatherings but also inculcate a sense of belonging in the neighbourhood.
