Bridge Foundation Design at Bavla, Gujarat

The studio was started with developing conceptual understanding using mindmaps and literature study. Then students collected samples from the borehole for soil investigation for the given site. A foundation design for the bridge for the given loads is carried out. In the soil improvement exercise, the laboratory tests were done before and after the addition of waste foundry sand as an additive and the results were analyzed. The final exercise consists of a conceptual model of soil nailing technique for stabilization of unstable slopes. The test on both unstable slope and stabilized slope models was conducted for comparison of results.
