Chakyarkoothu, a mono act and is traditionally equivalent to a stand-up comic act. KATHAN is a library in Kochi, Kerala that strives to transmit knowledge via the medium of comedy. The performer is accompanied by a Mizhavu player. 'Dominance' and 'Narration' were the main characteristics of this act which is further developed in order to form layouts for each space in the library. The entire approach entailed in use of salvaged vernacular elements such as doors, windows etc. in redesigning a library from the inside out, including a narrative in the space design along with catering to lighting requirements, atmosphere, and responding to the site.
