Mehsana - Municipal Finance

Mehsana is the district headquarters of the Mahesana district in Gujarat. It is a Class A municipality as the population is more than 1,00,000 as per the 2011 Census. Municipal finance is a key area for the overall functioning of a municipality. The existing state of finance in the Mehsana municipality was analysed through policy reviews, benchmarking, fiscal health assessment and insights into financial statements. Further, areas of improvement and case studies were identified to reach strategical and tactical proposals. To improve the municipality's own revenue and enhance its capacity, augmenting property tax collection and budget restructuring was proposed.
