Mehsana is a Class A municipality and Tier-3 city and have a population of more than 1lakh as per the 2011 Census. It is also one of the city which is experiencing multi-faceted problems as a result of rapid urbanization. Traffic congestion is one such problem afflicting mobility in Mehsana city. Traffic congestion is broadly defined as excess demand for travel over its supply. Studying existing scenarios through various surveys and functional analysis the major gaps are found, in which two areas Toranwadi and near APMC market areas were studied in-depth and a proposal to pilot in the city are given.

Understanding road patterns and typology of the city
Nagarpalika and police traffic cell regular actions against illegal encroachment and haphazard Parking takes an important role as well as a behavioral issue of citizens towards to follow rules and regulations also plays a vital role like non-commercial and market places underground parking though constructed, but it is not in  used, as well heavy vehicles different routing is provided which is not followed and such issues are many more due to design,procedural and management gaps
Major areas in the city are found by citizen survey and main reasons for the cause of traffic congestion are analyzed.
