Linking Asarva with its history of trade and textiles, the project proposed here is of a Market which brings textiles, handicrafts antiques several other items(majorly made of natural fibres like cotton, wool, khadi, linen, etc.) from different parts of Ahmedabad and around to the public. The market is imagined as a collection and congregation of such products that identify with memories of Ahmedabad.

In today’s time, even though the stepwell’s connection with water has become scarce, the architectural experience of the stepwell makes the person experience the natural elements like water, soil, descending in the ground, the openness and connection to the sky while being at the court of mosque, the feeling of enclosure while going inside the tomb, etc. and brings out the feeling of being connected to something larger than oneself. Imagining the market as an extension of human-experience relationships, it is offering the people different associations with natural and man-made elements present in the market. The market will act as a journey of different experiences of people based on the nature of their movement.
