The studio brief was to create an institution of 3500 sqm that responds to the monuments(s) present on site, Asarwa. The institute proposed is a place for women, drawn from the idea that the stepwells provided a space for women to gather and discuss in antiquity, which is now lost. Thus, it acts as a starting point through which women may once again hold ownership of the Bai Harir vav in Asarwa. The concept is reclaiming of public space for women by forming newer public spaces and thereby reviving older ones. The idea is to try and bring the public edge into the inside of the institute and bring the street all the way to the mosque and tomb part of the monument complex. Simultaneously, there is an attempt to create small private pockets within the institute.
