Embedding Nature into Culture

The project aims to revamp the Nature- Culture relationships by increasing cultural porosity and promoting confluence of cultures. Ahmedabad, known as the cultural capital state of Gujarat, is rich in its culture and vibrant traditions. The Master plan proposed for the University district aims to re-establish the missing associations between the city and institution creating a symbiotic relation by means of adjustments and series of adaptations. The university is envisioned as a dynamic ORGANISM in constant dialogue with the city, bringing about a confluence of cultures that contribute to the place making and image of the institution. Within the University District, even though the cultural magnets function efficiently, on an individual there is a need of weaving together these to act as a threshold between the city and the institutions. The cultural corridor thus acts as an enabler in connecting the previously disconnected units thereby initiating confluence of cultures.
