THE DESIGN OF A PLACE TO WORK IS AN OUTCOME OF A VIGOROUS PROCESS OF EXTRACTING OUT FORM AND SPACES OUT OF A MUSIC PIECE. THE FIRST STEP WAS TO UNDERSTAND MUSIC, NEXT WAS DEVELOPING TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE LINKS WITH THE IDEA OF DESIGN AND THEN NARRATING A PIECE OF WRITEUP THAT DEFINES THE VISUAL IMAGINATION OF A SPACE THROUGH MUSIC. THE NEXT STEP WAS TO DEPICT SPACES EXTRACTED FROM THE MUSIC IN THE FORM OF DIAGRAMS AND SKETCHES. A WALKWAY TO THE SITE OF SAAT KAMAN AT CHAMPANER, WAS DEVELOPED, AND THEN DESIGN SOLUTIONS CAME INTO EXISTENCE. THE FINAL DESIGN PRESENTED HERE IS THE CULMINATION OF A FORM DEVELOPED OUT OF THE GRID AS THE BINDING ELEMENT. TO BREAK THE CONTINUITY OF THE GRID, SPACES ARE ARRANGED IN FRAGMENTED FORMAT AND THEN CONNECTED THROUGH PASSAGES AND STEPS. REPRESENTING THE BEATS AND PUNCTURES OF THE MUSIC, BALCONIES AND COMMON SPACES ARE ADDED TO THE STRUCTURE. AT LAST AS A KEY FEATURE OF THE DESIGN A KINETIC ELEMENT WHICH IS IN THIS CASE IS THAT OF WALL BECOMING ROOF IS TAKEN UP. BY ACTION OF COUNTERWEIGHT AND GEARS, THE WALL IS PUSHED OUTSIDE AND UPWARD AND HENCE BECOMES A ROOF. THIS FEATURE ALSO PROVIDES AN INTERESTING OPPORTUNITY OF EXTENDING THE SPACE OUTWARDS. AS A WHOLE THE SPACE OPENS OUT ON ALL SIDES TO GIVE A EXPRESSION OF FREEDOM AND A SCENIC VIEW OF THE SITE.
