SVAAVALAMBEE: A COMMUNITY BASED CENTER RUN BY WOMEN

SVAAVALAMBEE – Is an environment friendly project is a community facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, near the Riverfront House. Ahmedabad being a dry and hot climatic region, has high temperature for the majority part of the year. This building is designed to facilitate views towards the Sabarmati River, has an indoor water body and an amphitheater for people gatherings and workshops. The choice of material and the designing of spaces with passive methods such as landscape, water bodies, courtyard-like spaces. Heat gain simulations were also done to check the thermal stats of the building. . The use of shading mechanisms and materials such as AAC blocks with insulation and terracotta cladding helped to reduce solar gain from external windows.
