Space is not a homogeneous concept but is a composite of many parts which construct the enclosure and are also separate from each other. Space here is also characterized by intangibles- such as context, time, and sense of place, which are detailed at times through the crafting of materials. I call this space a ‘symbolic space’. The interior spaces that we come across in today's context is a continuous real spaces and they might appear as symbolic spaces when displayed a sense of discontinuity, through the elements it imposes on the space. The construction of Tughlaq. in the stage design is taken as a trigger to lay out the rules of symbolic space as a system superimposed on the existing setting of Sarkhej Roza, Ahmedabad.
