The play examines Tughlaq’s well-intentioned reforms and the reasons for his reign’s failure. The drama examines the ramifications of abolishing the Hindu jizya tax, introducing copper currency with the existing silver dinars and relocating the capital from Delhi to Daulatabad. All these measures were meant to help the people but they end up causing chaos. The play also gradually opens up and shows how the Sultan is left alone as we proceed towards the end. Here, the play unfolds itself along with its characters with the sense of making interconnections as well as going away from it. The plot and the twists within provoke conversations and assumptions within the play. The transition between what would happen and what actually happens builds spontaneous dialogues in the play.
