The project aims at re-establishing the association of the Warlis with the forest. In doing so, the Warlis can re-stitch the lost associations with their homeland and culture such that, in return, the forest helps balance their livelihood. The project investigates remaining associations with the forest and finds that ‘Karvi’- a woody and endemic shrub used to build warli huts- has miraculous properties. Karvi, if cultivated in abundance, could not only sustain the Warlis in terms of livelihood, but also help regenerate the degrading landscape. The project outlines an effective plan of action template for a defined area showcasing all existing conditions for karvi to grow in the landscape.  Peripheral systems of api-culture, fruit plantations and camping not only help uplift economy but also strengthen association of the locals with the forest.

Tracing Scene | Tracing Landforms: The transect shows an undulating terrain with a series of troughs and crests running parallel and perpendicular to the coast of the Arabian Sea.
Tracing Scene | Zooming into transects, the undulations are termed into their respective geomorphological unit, landcover and character of landscape.
Tracing Thread| It is observed that though the series of undulations spanning the landscape are quite similar, the respective landcover changes dramatically. This is attributed to superimposing parameters of soil type, salinity, altitude and slope.

Tracing Seams | Superimposing growing conditions of karvi, a composite map is derived that highlights potential karvi growing areas in the landscape. Present conditions and occurrences of karvi are studied and strategies to cultivate, enhance and protect are proposed.
Tracing Script | A site of area 208 acres is chosen to demonstrate strategies, techniques and programmatic inserts to cultivate and enrich the landscape with karvi.
Tracing Script | Workshop area is a programmatic insert where the locals could involve in knowledge exchange and skill building like bee-rearing, honey extraction, karvi craft making etc, required to fulfil site requirements
