As Doreen Massey said, “It is not just that the spatial is socially constructed; the social is spatially constructed too.” The design of spaces and social behavioural patterns are intricately woven such that they cannot be separated. Certain spatial configurations lead to gendered spaces in the city. This project aims to break the rigidity of the street template and challenge the existing infrastructure in the city. The given site has been reimagined from an under-utilised beach edge into an asset for the city, creating an inclusive community space for neighbourhood interaction.
