The larger vision of this project revolves around reclaiming the city for pedestrians. streets are just as much of an important part for pedestrians as it is for vehicles if not more. The leisure and most importantly safety of any street are crucial in my opinion, but our current city designs in India do not think so. Most of the emphasis is given to vehicles and vehicle owners and indirectly the ones who can own these vehicles. By doing so, the streets reinforce a social hierarchy of who owns the streets and through that the city itself. Thus, anyone and everyone who does not own a vehicle, therefore. In this case, it is the majority of the women and people from the lower-income groups. Therefore, it is crucial to reclaim our cities and provide easier access and safety for pedestrians. And reclaiming the right to the city for the pedestrians is thus a stepping stone in reclaiming the right to the city for women.
