THE PROJECT PROPOSAL ENVISAGES MULTIPLE WALLS ON THE SITE, IN A DIRECTION PARALLEL TO THE ORIGINAL BERLIN WALL. CONTEXTUALLY, THE WALLS BEGIN AS A WHOLE TOWARDS THE POTSDAMER PLAZA AND GRADUALLY DISINTEGRATE TOWARDS THE EISENMANN MEMORIAL, COMPLETELY MERGING INTO THE LANDSCAPE, CULMINATING INTO THE PLAZA WHICH HOUSES THE WALL MEMORIAL. AT THE EDGE OF THE POTSDAMER PLAZA, A RECTANGULAR BLOCK SITUATES ITSELF PERPENDICULAR TO THE WALLS, COMPLETING THE PLAZA. SEVERAL TUBES BEGIN TO NOTCH THEMSELVES OVER THE WALLS, FREEING UP THE GROUND SPACE FOR SEAMLESS PUBLIC MOVEMENT. THE TUBES SYMBOLICALLY ATTEMPT TO BRIDGE OVER THE WALLS, FORMING A LAYER OF SPACE AND CIRCULATION ON THE TOP OF THE WALLS. THE JOURNEY BEGINS AT THE BRANDENBURG GATE, AND TAKES THE USER IN BETWEEN THE WALLS, ATTEMPTING TO CREATE A SENSE OF DIRECTED DISORIENTATION. THE JOURNEY GIVES THE USER MULTIPLE CHOICES TO MOVE UPWARDS TOWARD THE EXHIBIT SPACES, OR DOWNWARDS IN THE LANDSCAPE CULMINATING IN THE PLAZA MEMORIAL. TWO LEVELS OF MOVEMENT AND SPATIAL EXPERIENCES JUXTAPOSITION TAKE THE USER ON A JOURNEY THROUGH THE HISTORY OF THE BERLIN WALL.
