The river Mandovi, with its network of tributaries has given rise to a fertile island of characteristic ecology - Divar. The island is a self independent, intertwined network of commons in itself. The fragile ecosystem is composed of khazans, bunds and protective mangroves along the periphery. Aquaculture and agriculture form the primary occupation of the island. The people of the island are strongly fighting against the Government to keep it secluded, in order to maintain safety and serenity. But, at the same time they are responsible for the destruction of the island Hence, the point of interest lies in maintaining a balance in the system of the island and preserving its unique identity.
