Goa is a state of striking cultural identities, traditions, ecosystems, and lives. And one element that binds all of these by a thread of being is the concept of ‘Mand’. Mands functioned as the backbone for the Goan folk life at the rural and tribal levels and looked over the banking, collection of taxes, and judicial system. They played an important role in the religious, socio-cultural and agro-economical aspects. These Mands that once held the community together are undergoing an erasure that has resulted in loss of identity and failure in the functioning of a network of commons. Reinstating these with principles based on past and present needs is the aim of the project.
