Concept inspiration: While strolling through the streets of Darjeeling one thing that intrigued me was the traditional
masks that were being sold as an antique at a very high range and people were actually buying it as a
souvenir from the Darjeeling along with the tea. And it is believed as a protection from evil and so people
hang it in front of their house.
Concept translation: The design that is inspired by masks and their unique qualities. The design incorporates
specific elements of space-making to translate these characteristics and provide an immersive experience
for the user.
Through the design, the user is able to experience the intangible qualities of the masks, such as their cultural
and symbolic significance. This is achieved through the use of spatial attributes that mimic the masks’
shapes, colors, and patterns. The use of textures and materials that are reminiscent of the masks may also
be incorporated into the design to enhance the overall sensory experience. Overall, the design aims to create
a unique and memorable experience that captures the essence of the masks and their cultural significance.
