The Garuda Dorje, a Hotel in Darjeeling

According to Queeny Pradhan's book 'Empire in the Hills', Darjeeling along with Simla, Mount Abu and Ooty were places identified by the British as hill stations to get away from the heat in the plains and leisure.  Darjeeling was a plain land with no existing structures at all. The colonial buildings were the first to be constructed in the Darjeeling and hence, the Hotel draws inspiration from the city's past.
