The project is an artisan workshop and exhibition space set near River Sabarmari in Ahmedabad. There are workshops like pottery, khadi and handmade paper. The project is a light and thin structure aiming towards the idea of nuanced spaces for the artisans to work. The spaces encourage visitors to go through the workshop spaces rather than just the exhibition to see the process that goes behind all the different kinds of crafts. Large open courts near workshops would allow artisans to take their activities forward into the landscape. A small cafeteria along a large court towards the river is where the project finally takes you. Shilpshala is an idea of a space where all sorts of crafts, craftsmen and their craftmanship come together.
