Geotechnical Parameters and Foundation design

The studio Geotechnical Parameters: Influencing Design of Foundation Systems focuses on examining properties of different types of soils and their effect on design of foundations. The studio began with basic theory and mind maps to provide an overview of the subject. Next was the site visit to Karansagar village near Mehsana to collect soil samples via borehole drilling. The samples were then tested on in the CEPT laboratory to determine their index and shear strength properties. With the obtained data, suitable foundations like isolated, raft and pile were designed under corresponding load cases.
