Prison : Spaces for transformation

“The ultimate goal of the prison system must be to reform and rehabilitate, not merely to punish.” - John Howard. The project aims to design a facility that focuses on the inmates’ physical and mental well-being and reformation, through care and an environment where they tend to thrive and rediscover and develop themselves as individuals. The reformation is to be instilled through aspects such as discipline, social interaction, and self-reflection. Finally, a balance between security and freedom is maintained, offering the inmates a space to grow and develop, while maintaining order and safety.
