Sea levels are rising and people are scrambling to find new shelter. NEERVAANA is a project of a dwelling designed by a group of traders from a fishing village in Mandvi, Gujarat. During their search of a new home on their fishing boats, they came across a ruined fort. An almost submerged colonnade seemed to serve as the perfect foundation to build a deck on. Docking spaces were made in between to incorporate their boats and a dwelling was made. These traders spend several days on their boats, travelling to higher altitude areas in India for trade and in search of resources. The most unique aspect of their design is the dynamic nature of their home, which switch between living in the boat in isolation and on the decks with the boats docked.
