Gender roles imposed by communities have a deep impact on women's mobility with economic, social, and livelihood implications. Women balance domestic and caregiving responsibilities with work trips - "Chaintrips", whereas men use transport to and from work primarily. Women use the V2 and V8 of Chandigarh far less than men due to inactivity, which gives them no reason to "be" there, and the scale & green corridors cause safety issues. This project aims to provide women with equal access to these roads via cycling and pedestrianisation, solving the challenges they face of access, leisure and safety on the road of Chandigarh City.
