Surat Development Plan 2043

The studio focuses on understanding the framework and mechanism of a Development Plan (DP) by studying the urban area of Surat. Development Plan 2043 is proposed by visioning Surat as a compact and resilient city. The study is carried out through studio exercises and a set of three iterations. Existing situation analysis (ESA) is done through primary and secondary research on various sectors i.e., transport, land use, infrastructure, economy, housing, and demography. Based on the ESA, the zoning map and development control regulations (DCR) are prepared. Proposals for sectors like transport, green network, and housing are also prepared. In addition to this, phasing and costing of the DP is done. Further, recommendations for enhanced DP implementation mechanism through TP schemes are provided.
