The brief was to design an eco-resort in the Gajaldoba village in North Bengal. The reference context given was the colonial tea bungalows of Darjeeling. The resort is located near the Teesta river barrage. The concept of the project is based on Japanese philosophy of wahi sabi which derives its inspiration from the immediate context. The river is present but yet not seen, and hence shows the imperfection. While we know that travel plays an important role in our overall well-being, applying the principles of wabi-sabi can help heighten our awareness and appreciation of our surroundings while traveling. Rather than devising a travel itinerary from a list of photogenic landmarks, aim to visit interesting places that are perhaps a little offbeat and unsightly. Explore places that feel raw and real, and seek destinations that speak to you. Embrace the imperfections of travel for it will add depth to your experience. The project talks about broken yet beautiful in different ways at different levels and encourages the visitors to explore the local context through interior elements. To view the complete portfolio, click here.https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1aObwlgoFG4PQQmSQ1hKhwpuQRKB1RMUJ?usp=sharing
