This project reimagines the public amenities for everyday Indian streets by examining existing public amenities in Masjid bunder of Mumbai’s Eastern Waterfront. Here, the idea is to create inclusive public amenities by addressing multiple questions of accessibility that we as citizens face on everyday basis which stops us from using these amenities. Four amenities that are selected on the basis of their need and usage in Masjid bunder are bus shelter, footover bridge, public toilet and spaces below the flyover. Prototypes are designed as flexible structures that can cater multiple functions keeping in mind the needs of everyday commuters plus adding social functions in response to the exclusion to make it accessible to everyone regardless of their age, gender or disability. As Indian cities are congested especially in the context of Mumbai, these prototypes are designed as a kit of parts of specific dimensions which can be multiplied or reduced to suit the given context.
