The building is set away from the road and is surrounded by tall trees. From the exterior, the building makes a bold impression by following a strict geometry, with its RCC columns and beams and its thick brick infills. From inside it is weak and shows its skeleton, which is treated brutally and is forgotten with time. The inside of the building is quite exciting, due to its angled roof system that excites the user to enter the building. It is quite open and directional. The site is located in Ahmedabad near the Airport. Ahmedabad, to me, is a foodaholic city, but we do not know where our food is sourced, only frequenting commercial establishments. ‘We are what we eat’, hence it is important to educate ourselves about how to lead a healthy food-related lifestyle. We tend to forget to connect to nature and understand how food is produced while living the typical busy city life. Urban farming is a method of introducing people to the cycle of food production that we have lost. It is a platform where different groups and individuals come together, and interact, and make something by themselves. Experiencing different types of growth and production, it gives us the confidence to believe in our own production capabilities.
