The dilapidated industrial factory, not far from Ahmedabad airport, is located behind the bustling downtown. The industrial factory was originally a machinery factory and now it is an experience museum of design in India. Design in India is a fusion of multiple states and domains, India has fusion in culture, food, music, art, and almost every other domain. Fusion is one of the strategies of innovation.
However, design is a process of creation which constantly evolves and transforms with time. In this dynamic period of evolution, change is inevitable. The fusion of the new in the existing, is the process of transformation. When the existing situation adapts to the contemporary methods and ideologies there is a coexistence of the old and the new, but the contrast between the two is distinctly evident. This approach of fusion, highlights the new state but it also glorifies the old in its existing state.
This project, IN-Fusion Design museum is imagined to bring India’s tryst with domain of design through a system of museum spaces, exhibition/gallery spaces, conference/seminar halls, competitions, workshop studios and events. The program has three major functions i.e. display, interact and collaborate. The temporary and permanent exhibition spaces come under the function of display. The open plaza, cafeteria and breakout spaces come under the function of interact and the workshop and library comes under collaborate function. A Design museum showcasing the journey of Design in India and its futures is the core idea behind such an imaginarium.https://issuu.com/harsheenmengar1/docs/harsheen_mengar_ui3216_forgotten_transformed
