Surrounded by local traditional crafts and residences of the crafts people, and the easily available materials of building these crafts, opens an opportunity to create a place where craft is valued and where the other generation can gain knowledge from the crafts people. On looking at the ornamentation of the Old Stock Exchange, one cannot help but appreciate its beauty. The double volumes with their wooden mezzanines, give the idea of floating and levitating floor plates. The huge internal volumes offer a freedom of creating a space within. The building appears to be alive but is dead with its current condition. The idea is to represent two eras: the past and forgotten with the present and new, the first stand of approaching the built. Both, appreciating the differences while trying to connect with each other. It is a new epoch within the past. The fusion of visually lightweight materials, paired with the heavily ornamented ceilings and apertures, expresses how these two eras collide with each other yet stand out separately. A parasite of the present tries to accommodate within the roots of the past.
