Argument - Bopal is a newly developing city near Ahmedabad, which started developing after major connectivity with Ahmedabad. It has offered stay for various kinds of people with different occupation and culture. Due to rapid development after the earthquake, implementation of the TP scheme has failed in Bopal, hence there is a lack of public leisure spaces. Also, the development in Bopal is Developers driven, as it consists of 64% residential area.
Thesis - The idea is to bridge the gap between different kinds of people in the city and providing the city proper public infrastructure and an Identity by Creating a Boulevard and multiple Public Nodes. Hence, the premise tries to identify multiple major spots that come along the South Bopal Main road and develop them as a place for people to connect and also to give the neighborhood an Identity that it needs and an Identity of Bopal too. So, the road has to be developed enough for pedestrians and cyclists, which allows people to go from one area to another without using vehicles, so that they can be engaged with many street elements and hence makes a linear plaza which connects these three Public Nodes with each other. Hence connects North Bhopal with South Bopal. Development of this connection and nodes can also allow the possibility of further development in the North Bopal which it’s lacking right now. The Public nodes which are selected can have programs like Public Park, Market place, Eateries, Cultural Hub, Community Hall, Library, Gallery, etc. The function will be dependent according to the area. Also, redevelopment of the street, to make it more pedestrian-friendly and with street furniture to engage the people.
