Rapid urbanization and the growth of city boundaries are pushing the farms and food production away from city centers. Greenfield developments are one of the main agents of change. Although these kinds of developments are inevitable and cannot be avoided as they are the support system of urbanization. What can be done is finding a balance between the two. This project is an exploration of the same. A way of bringing food production and urban life as close as possible by creating ownership and authority of the farms and by introducing efficient ways to grow food. The two techniques proposed are permaculture - growing multiple species in a compact pattern with maximizing the potential of the land and hydroponics- growing plants on water instead of soil base.
