Urban streams are features of developing cities that are adversely affected by urban sprawl leading to fragmentation and disruption of natural habitats while also disturbing hydrology of the area. Koteshwar stream is located in the peri-urban area of Ahmedabad where urbanization is affecting conservation opportunities for the stream, the disturbed hydrological patterns result in flooding of villages and movement corridor of biodiversity is also affected. With the gradual transition of the rural character, there is a need to conserve urban streams that offer a wide range of ecosystem services and hold socio-cultural value for the local community.
